Tales of old and new, familiar and strange, of me and of you.
A show which will bar hop its way around Edinburgh and Glasgow, sharing and collecting stories along the way; ‘A Stranger Walks into a Bar’ fuses the folk tales that have been passed down to us with contemporary over heard at the pub anecdotes. A lively, amusing, and occasionally bizarre celebration of people, everyday life, and the joy of a tale well told.
The show will alter a little between each venue, continuing to collect material as it travels. It will be accompanied by a blog and a small online archive documenting our travels and the tales we encounter over the summer.
When a stranger turns up to drink at the bar alone, he brings with him a wealth of odd tales and an uncanny insight into our lives. As the night progresses however, we find he is not the only one with a tale to tell.
Come and spend an evening at the pub and witness a meeting of tale tellers; as two bar staff and a mysterious young man pull us into a cycle of mistakes and mischief, the wondrous and the absurd, the unbelievable and the everyday.
A little different in every location, this exciting new play will grow and change throughout the summer as it travels from pub to pub.
Grab a pint, pull up a chair, and join the people who are always listening.
